Our Mission:

recreation

We believe that every one should have access to recreation in their communities, but that’s not always the case. For those in areas with health disparities and no access to these activities, we bring the recreation to them.

Our Mission

The Rec'N The Streets mobile program uses fitness as a educational tool to combat issues of behavioral disorders, addiction and obesity in under-resourced neighborhoods.

Our Impact Goals

The goal is to increase participation and opportunities for physical activities, prioritizing neighborhoods and communities afflicted by health disparities. The real impact is being present in these communities; engaging with the people. We want the people living in these communities to not only want to get fit, but want more of these opportunities in their communities to help them achieve those goals. Here's how we prepare to get it done.

Over 13,125

People playing/moving

If we have at least 3700 people moving, imagine the holistic benefits we provide. And we are just getting started.

1158+

Hours moving

This is the fun part! Practice what we preach, so we're going to be out there teaching, playing, and exercising with you too.

772+

Activations around King County

It's important that we spread ourselves out around Seattle. So many communities need us, so we want to show up to as many of them as we can.

Our Programs

Deciding on our RNTS curriculum, we wanted to base it around four fitness pillars: Cardio, Strength, Endurance and Balance. We understand that there are different skill levels, as well as limitations for some, so we have different versions for different groups. As long as these fitness pillars are a part of the program, everyone will be able to achieve a certain level of fitness.

Cardio

Your cardio fitness refers to how well your heart, lungs, and organs take in and use oxygen throughout your workout. Most cardio exercises are good for burning calories and losing weight.

Endurance

Activities that increase your heart rate like running, swimming, cycling or jogging are all endurance exercises. Endurance activities keep your heart, lungs and circulatory system healthy and improves your overall fitness.

Strength

Studies show strength training is helpful for weight loss because it helps increase your resting metabolism (meaning the rate at which your body burns calories when you're just going about your day, not exercising).

Balance

When we walk, run, bike or swim, we are balancing ourselves. ... Injuries and falls can be prevented with Balance Training. Balance is key to all functional movement and everyone should be including it in their training program.

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.
